In the summer 1947 hundreds if not thousands of UFO sightings
were being reported from coast to coast.

On July 3, 1947, a rancher in Roswell, New Mexico
discovered the wreckage of a crashed craft on one of his sheep pastures.

Days later, only a few miles from the crash site
the bodies of four extraterrestrials were discovered.

The U.S. Army Air Force cleared away the wreckage over the next few days
and issued a press release on July 8th
dentifying the finding as a crashed flying saucer.

Hours later a second press release stated there had been a mistake
and that the finding was actually a crashed weather balloon.
